Anyone successfully load MS Forefront Client onto Server 2012 Essentials R2 Preview

I've loaded it but the updated engine fails (windows update error 643)  when it tries to update itself.  The definitions update OK.

Well, I knew there was a way.............  Searching back in the "Archives" I found a posting that fixed everything.

Specifically, I had MS ForeFront Client Security loaded but it would fail when updating the search engine per article KB2394433 -- Post #22 in this thread addressed this

Here is a repeat of the specifics:

I used the proceedure outlined in message #50 at http://homeserversho...__40#entry29806

For some reason though -- I had windows update set to Microsoft products before hand and it was downloading the patch for KB2394433 (plus a couple of other definition updates) and it would fail on the installation of KB2394433.

So... I went to the http://support.micro....com/kb/2394433

Specifically I did:

  • Visit the following Microsoft Update Catalog Web site: http://catalog.updat.../site/Home.aspx

  • Type 2394433 in the Search box, and then click Search.

  • Click Add to add the hotfix to the basket.

  • Click Download.

  • Click Browse, specify the folder to which you want to download the hotfix, and then click OK.

  • Click Continue, and then click I Accept to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.

  • When the update is downloaded to the location that you specified, click Close

I downloaded it to my downloads subdirectory

There are two files there....

Double click and execute the x64 file -- and my KB2394433 was updated! :)
