Is there any way to enable decoding of MKV in AccessAnyWhere?

Currently folders containing MKV files show up empty, i have tried to install "K-Lite Codec Pack" on a virtual test machine and there it had no effect...

Petoj87,

personally I would not go there. "Codec Packs" can be a mess. What I would do is look into something like Plex www.plexapp.com or the new up coming Media Browser 3 and go from there. Others will have a different view on this I am sure but after 5 years of messing with this stuff and trying to get movies, videos, pictures, & music to play nice on all devices without the messy codecs and things still not working right, I find Plex to be a great app because it just works. Here is a link to the BYOB podcast episode 110 where Mike talks to the Plex head developer http://homeservershow.com/byob-episode-110.html Have a look and good luck.

I agree with Mr Fixit, do not mess with codec pack and don't expect any support from MS.  I also agree with the suggestion of using the plex app s that will provide you and friends and family the best choice.  Have been using it for a long time and if you go back to BYOB 110 we had a great interview with Tobias from Plex.  It has been awhile but it covers quite a bit of what it does. It is actually a great product an they are updating very frequently.

I agree codec packs are bad news, but you might try the LAV Filters: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156191

It's not adware supported so it doesn't install any toolbars. It allows .mkv playback in windows media player and media center. (and supports bitstreaming)

It works great for local playback but I'm not sure about AccessAnyWhere.
