vjsimon625 0
Yes looks like this , but what about the memory that i have installed now ? according to the ILO the memory is up and running . One stick is UDIMM and the other RDIMM.Is this configuration possible? Only having the RDIMM stick it will not boot at all\ thank you for the help
schoondoggy 900
RDIMM will not work. iLo is a separate system on the motherboard. I assume iL0 can see the RDIMM, but the chipset of the Gen 8 can not use it.
vjsimon625 0
Yes this would explain it but...the BIOS is also detecting it: https://imageshack.com/i/n6l7p0j
ikon 439
You're mixing memory types? That doesn't sound ideal to me.
vjsimon625 0
Yes it does not sound ideal for me also.i just tried to get the best of it without having to buy extra RAM. I have 3 X 8 GB ECC memory that i cannot use aparently with my Gen 8 http://imageshack.com/a/img842/8771/02c5.jpg anyone want a trade ) just joking
kuf 5
this kingston should be ok? http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KVR13LE9S8_4.pdf
mrbroons 0
Off topic slightly but I'm considering selling my Gen8 rig with 16Gb (the tenuous link there). What would be a reasonable price? It has an E3 1230v2 4 core / 8 thread fitted also.
HellDiverUK 99
The cheapest 8GB sticks I could find were the Kingston KVR16LE11/8 - works well for me. They work OK in the Lenovo TS140 as well.
Dvampoul 0
Hello gyus i have recently bought a HP Proliant Gen8 Microserver (1610) and installed ESXi 5.0 planning to upgrade to ESXi 6.0. Could you help me if is any list of compatible RAM's ? Searching this forum i found these: Κingston KVR1333d3E9SK2/8G Kingston KTH-PL316E/8G Kingston KTH-PL313E/8G Samsung Green - M379B5273DH0-YK0 Kingston KVR16LE11/8 Kingston KVR16E11/8I Crucial CT102464BF160B Crucial CT102472BA160B Kingston KVR13LE9S8/4 Elpida 1600Mhz CL-11.0 PC3-12800E ECC UDIMM 2x4Gb Kingston KVR16E11S8/8 Kingston KVR1333D3E9S SK HYNIX 8GB HMT41GU7AFR8C-RD Samsung M391B1G73QH0-YK0 Also to make a question. Could i combine a new 16GB or 8GB along with 2GB that is preinstlaled? Preinstlaled DIMM 2GB is 1333MHz or 1666Mhz? Does anyone know? I checked and found the above serials but cannot find MHz (MT9JSF25672AZ-1G6K1ZE ) 2GB 1RX8 PC3-12800E-11-13-D1 Product of China DPAEPHL005? I Would like to buy a 8GB and combile it well (MHz - Dual channel if possible) so to have available for my ESXi host 10GB (Is OK for now.) Thanks in advance for your replies gyus! This forum is WOW!!! So many threads, so many answers !!! :-) -) -)
schoondoggy 900
16GB modules wont work. For this Intel chipset it supports 8GB per module socket. You can add a 8GB with the 2GB for a total of 10GB. The first 4GB (2GB+2GB) of memory will run in dual channel. I think the module that comes with the server is DDR3-1600. As long as the memory is PC3-12800E DDR3-1600 ECC UDIMM it should work fine.
