I found this thread in a google search after noticing a Newegg price discrepancy. I was browsing Newegg for a CPU and noticed their own banners advertising a lower price than when you click through and it's higher. What the heck is that all about?

Sean,

Did Newegg ever respond to your situation?

Sean,

Every time my request got to any kind of manager the support ticket was closed without any explanation or notification, I tried 3 times and the same thing happened every time

I have decided to stop shopping at Newegg, I get everything elsewhere now even if its more expensive

Thanks

Same B.S. as many companies. Infuriates me with the double standard pricing Best Buy used at one

time. I was all too glad to show them the lower price on their app when I was purchasing at the cash register.

Amazon is already eating your lunch, so you screw the people who are standing in your store to buy your stuff.

No wonder you are hurting.

They all have issues.

At Christmas I had to get a manager at Walmart to OK matching the Walmart web price. I had to look it up on my phone and show them as they would not check it themselves.

Amazon prices fluctuate more than anyone I have seen, with no determinable logic. I can post a deal from them and an hour later the price is up.

  • 11 months later...

I ran into this problem yesterday and found this forum while searching for my issue.  For me though, it was more than just a price change that bothered me.  It was also the specifications for the product i was looking at.  I attached both images to share...

I was looking for a XFX - 290x model EDFD.  I wanted to check prices/specs online while in a microcenter store.  I checked on my phone and noticed the specs were different than last time.  So I decided not to buy anything and just to check online when I got back to the office... Low and behold the specs on my desktop computer showed much different specs than online.

If I didn't catch that, I would have been upset that I bought a card where I thought the specs were the same.

That's because you are looking at 2 different products.  They are very close so it is hard to catch.
