Stupid Server Mods

I get the whole Metro thing and if I am on a touchscreen that is great.

However when I RDP into my server, I don't want to mess with that.

Given I have Start8 installed on my Win8 machines I thought I would

spend the $5 and try it on Server 2012. If did just fine, but it doesn't

give you the option to reboot, shut down, etc. as it does on the

Win8 boxes, or I just didn't select the right box?

I also added a reboot and shut down shortcut in the taskbar, not

pretty, but it works for me.

You will be happy to know that this has been resolved in R2.  "Right" click on the New Start button and you can restart and shutdown.

StartIsBack gives you the options you're looking for. I've used it on my WSE 2012 VM for months with no issues.

When remoting from Windows to Windows I do a Ctrl-Alt-End (same as Ctrl-Alt-Delete), then in the lower right corner of the screen you have access to log off, restart, hybernate and shut-down.  I know it works on Win Server 2012E, Home Server V1, Win 7 and XP.  Very handy, use it all the time.

Thanks for the tip. I was trying to do a screenshot of my RDP session last night and every other tip I ready didn't

work for that, but I will certainly use yours.
