why RAID0, if only one drive fails, you'll loose all data ?!

as suggested, you can try one disk on the secondary port on the P410 to see if it is recognized.

if so, connect the 4 and build a new array on the secondary port and move existing data to new array

with 4 drives and minimum fault tollerance, suggested is minimum 2 arrays of 10TB with 2x2 drives RAID 1 or 30TB with 4x drives in RAID 5.

As more information becomes available I thought I would create a list of links that may prove to be helpful to anyone interested in the Gen8 Microserver.     The Schoon Store – Schoondo

I must say this is a life-saving source of useful information about the Gen8 MicroServer!  And speaking as someone resurrecting their Gen8 with a rebuild, it has proven to be extremely useful. My than

Thanks for answering!

Yes, I had thought as a last resort to buy a 10 TB disk (second hand on Amazon) and try it, but I would like to exhaust all the possibilities before making the disbursement of so much money. I asked in the forum of HP Servers, but there they do not give me an answer, they only tell me that in the technical file the maximum possible is 4 × 4 TB (I already know, I have 4 × 6 TB !!!).

So I would like to know about someone who would have put them, but I think I will not meet anyone jaja

Hello,

I'm looking for this one specific server because of the iLO functionality and the possibilities to upgrade the cpu.

Where can I find this the cheapest online? With shipping to northern Europe.

Or is there any suggestions on alternatives in the same price range?

(Have looked at the gen 10, but the lack of iLO and removed possibility of upgrading the cpu makes me want the gen8 instead)

Hello good afternoon! The truth is that I have been looking at different web pages in Spain, and it has been a very demanded product, so there are few left (in the web pages of Amazon Europe, the Gen8 is very expensive). I bought it on this website, at the end of 2015 I cost 210 €. What part of northern Europe are you from?

I do not know if this web page sends Europe, but if you are very very interested in buying it, I could send it to you.

Hello,

I was on the same site today actually, amazon.de and noticed the two spanish webpages still sell it. Although they do not sent to my adress in Finland.

I noticed Senetic still got the G1610T but it will be 351,74 € with shipping so that is a pretty high price tag..

Idiotic I didn't buy it 2 years ago when i started looking into this, could get them for about 200€ in my country then.

Trying my luck on eBay now to get one with added stuff for the same price Senetic sends a new, seems like a more valuable alternative.

Well yes, € 200 was a good price. If I find something around here in Spain, I'm telling you, and if you agree, I have no problem sending it to Finland . The girlfriend of a friend of mine is Kokemaki :)

Hello! I wanted to ask you some things about installing a Windows 10 pro on the G8 microserver with a p410 controller.

I would like to be able to install this operating system, but I am looking for the drivers for this controller on the HP website, and I can not find the driver. The system is completely updated by the SSP, and at the start of the system it indicates that the driver of the controller is currently 6.64. I do not know if to install Windows 10 Windows Server 2016 drivers are missing.

Both in Windows 10 and in Windows server 2016, if you create an array of four disks from the intelligent provisioning, the two operating systems will detect it as a logical unit and you can not see the disks individually, right?

Thank you very much and greetings!

Server 2016 drivers should work in Windows 10.

I have been running the WHS1 pack 3 for many years.  Unfortunately it is no longer working.  I got a Proliant microserver Gen10 hoping it will run it but was unable to install the software.  The software should run on most older PCs?

Does anyone have the WHS1 running on the Gen10?  Also my WHS1 iso is Pack 1.  If I manage to install the Pack 1 can I find on the web the upgrade to pack 3?  Would I be forever stuck at Pack 1?  Any advice would be appreciated.

All credit to schoondoggy for his original idea. A shame I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic to order an SDM kit as the import duties make it an expensive option, or would have if they were still available. I had to look around to see what alternatives I could find... and managed to find the bits needed on Amazon!

I must admit I am rather pleased with the end result of this project and may repeat it on the other Gen8 MicroServer. The outcome is a server with a mirrored system drive on the internal B120i, and the main drive bays connected to an HP P222 card providing a RAID-10 data volume. This is pretty much my ideal setup for a stable resilient but small server.

Sabrent 3.5" to x2 SSD Internal Mounting Kit (BK-HDCC)
      Amazon UK - https://amzn.to/32qEVou
      Amazon US - https://amzn.to/3h8Blom
The kit comes with all the cabling you need and all the required screws to mount the drives and bracket.
Two types of power splitter cables are included along with two SATA cables. The bracket holds two SSDs and provides a small gap between them.

I mounted the bracket next to the PSU but leaving a 2-3mm gap to allow for some airflow past the SSDs in case they get warmed by the P222.

      Tips:
Put some insulating tape along the underneath of the upper chassis rail next to the PSU and drilled three small holes.
I used two strips on to stop the drill bit from walking across the metal. Drill with a 2mm first then a 2.5mm bit. This leaves enough metal for screws to thread in.
Check and measure each hole against the bracket as you go so that they line up. Bracket is then fixed in place using the provided screws (see photo).

The final part of the puzzle is another Mini-SAS to SATA cable the same as the one connected to the internal drive bays.
This is an SFF-8087 Mini-SAS [male] connector to 4 SATA [female] header cables. The 50cm cable from Jyopto works great and not too much spare to lose within the system.
      Amazon UK - https://amzn.to/2CXAzgb
I could not find it on Amazon US site but there was one from CableCreations that same length.

Just need to add your choice of SSDs and cable up to B120i port.  I went with Samsung 860 Pro SSDs for the longer rated lifespan of write cycles.

I decided to forget about an internal DVD/RW drive and opted for an external HP F2B56AA slimline drive that can be plugged into the USB of either system.
      Amazon UK - https://amzn.to/2EgSSxD
      Amazon US - https://amzn.to/326uFmL

Sabrent also make a really good quality 2.5" to 3.5" bay converter adapter (BK-PCBS) that I have used in the EX490/X510 to convert from HDD to SSD system drives.
      Amazon UK - https://amzn.to/3jbYBmT
      Amazon US - https://amzn.to/335kXQz

Hopefully this information will prove useful to some looking to update their MicroServer.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get Agentless Management Service (AMS) running on Debian/Ubuntu Linux? It is always showing as Not Available in the iLO page and I have only ever seen this active in Windows.

      Hey guys,

Has anyone around here been successful in setting up Proxmox on a Gen8 using a HBA for storage?
