cannot get connected, home building a server, network card compatibilitywith WHS

Hi! I am building a home server, have a msi K9N6PGM2-V2 motherboard that supports Realtek RTL8211CL or RTL8201EL. The drivers won't load and won't work, and therefore I can't get an internet connection. I thought about buying a new PCI network card that would have drivers that would support Windows Home Server, but I can't even find a network card I see that is compatible. Can you help?

The MSI K9N6PGM2-V2 only supports 10/100 speeds. If it were me, I'd look for something that supports gigabit LAN speeds.

I use a Netgear GA311 in a frankenbuild that works well. On the install CD, look in the W2k folder for GA311ND5.SYS.

*I think I actually bought this at Best Buy.

I agree with dvn. For performance reasons, I use the intel cards as they are very fast and come with compatible drivers. There are also a bunch of low cost cards that work just as well. Here are few choices in addition to what dvn suggested. In general, most cards will work with XP drivers as well. Being a bit on the insane side, I actually benchmarked many ethernet cards which is why I now run the Intel Cards on my servers. Hope this helps.

I did not run diagnostics only benchmarks. I test about 6 different cards that supported server 2003 to see if there was a difference and there was. I effectively about 10% more performance from the intel card than the others.
