Run Synology DiskStation on your Microserver.

I followed a post here http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6 and installed the Synology DiskStation software on a USB thumb drive to run on my HP Microserver N40L.

Dude...seriously?  Can the Microserver be any better?  How did it run John?  Fast enough?  What drives did you have in it?

I actually posted this once before and then hid the topic while I discussed it with Dave.  Dave has developed a working relationship with Synology and putting their OS on a Microserver may not be agreeable to them or even legal to distribute?

 

Any thoughts?

Funny thing is I found that site because they linked here to get the modded BIOS. :ph34r:

I just did a quick look and it looks like Synology posts the source code to DSM on Sourceforge under a GPL.  However, the latest version posted appears to be 4.1 and the information in the links you are referring to is for 4.2.

 

I will ask Dave if he is comfortable with this topic in our forums.
