would a 10k drive be good as a os drive and then another for my vm files for my hyper server?  prices on these are good.

I use them as boot drives for servers, generally as a mirrored pair.

They are fast enough for a general purpose server.

I don't have much drive time with HyperV, but my general rule has always been to divide workloads to separate drives.

I think it would be a good idea to have one for OS and one for VM's.

Yeah, I totally agree with giving the OS its own drive. I always do that when possible.

I have never heard of white label drives. Anyone have experience with them.

PS I do realize every lot could yield different results.

Generally, it refers to drives that where original sold to an OEM to be labeled as their brand, Dell-IBM-HP.

So these could be overstock or left over inventory.

In most cases they are new, like these, but White label drives could be refurbished as well.

Goharddrives is putting a 1 year warranty on these;

White Label 500GB 10000RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" (Enterprise Class) Hard Drive - New w/1 Year Warranty

Over the years, I have bought 100's of white label drives for servers in our labs.

Additionally, I have had no issues with any drive that I have purchased from GoHardDrive.

Read the descriptions carefully, warranty and conditions vary.
