Well since this community seems to own 50% of the Micro servers ever made, Perhaps HP might like to front up.

Hey Guys! Look at this! My friend Mark Terborg gave you ten more reasons why you should attend the 2013 HSS meetup!   http://www.recordedtvhd.com/forum/#nabble-td5708159

Just got the "homeserver" rate of $99 plus tax for king bed room.  Told them didn't need the two queen beds, no kids no spouse that weekend!

My plans to come to the meet up had it a road block when I was diagnosed with cancer in June.  However, today I received great news that it has not spread to the lymph nodes and therefore, not spread.

I am going to make plans to be there. Sounds exciting! I like Dave's plans to make it even bigger than last year.  While this might not be the normal home server stuff, I am interested in audio equiptment such as Dave used at CES and other podcasting stuff.  How about a Audio-Technica ATR2100 give away?

I just wanted to add that when you list down a vendor that you would like to see represented at the meet-up, what specifically are you interested in learning about?

I realize some of the suggestions (including mine) are about hardware that could be given away to attendees.  But we also have to keep in mind that part of the reason for the meet-up is to allow people to get their hands on some new hardware and learn something new.

With that in mind....my comment on the hard drives was so we had drives to put into all these other boxes that people want to see on demo.  (That is my story anyways).

Stablebit and Drivebender

I would like to see demos for each product. I like to see how product works during hard drive failure.

OK, here's a wish list of mine -- it may be a little ambitious :)

Anything (or everything) from the last 4 or more Icy Dock Icy Tips -- the most recent April has some nice/interesting stuff/HW....... I'm particularly interested in stuff that could adapt one or more 5.25" drive bays to multiple uses

HP Servers and MicroServers -- Not just G7's but the ML's G8 -- that could only be to HP's and our advantage to see/touch/run the hardware (Maybe Dell or other Small business Server Provider would like to come over and Demo their products too?)

High Resolution Monitors and at least one projector that could be demo'd and used during the meet-up

An assortment of Wireless AC routers -- and then maybe 1 or more could be set up to provide our own internet within the "Hotel Cesspool" internet where-ever we're at -- it would be cool to see them in action and be actually using them during the meetup.

RAID Cards -- including demos on how they work

Gigabyte Haswell System Boards -- this is an enthusiest crowd -- we should be their target market

Surface RT and Surface Pro as well as other Tablets -- demos on how to fit them into our home infrastructure (Maybe MicroSoft could just POP over from their Store in Indy)

Media equipment (I'd love to see VF's equipment like what he brought at the 1st meetup :) )

Linux systems/servers -- need to learn more and see how it integrates into what we want to do in the home -- I have Ubuntu and Ubuntu Server running in Hyper-V but really don't know anything about them so would like to learn more

S2012E & WHS2011 -- would like to see more HW solutions/platforms for both (something we can run and take apart)

Something about setting up Domains in the Home and achieving high WAF

Hyper-V and ESXi -- how to get them up and running and how to best use them

Integrating Apple/iOS into this mess (Apple's store is very near MicroSoft's -- maybe they could carpool over :) )

Unbox ML110 Gen10 at RESET Meetup

This is a video of the unboxing of the HPE ProLiant ML1100 Gen10 at the RESET Meetup #Indy2017 on September 30, 2017.  More to follow in the Forums in the future.

Meetup 2017 Registration - $20 This fee guarantees you a spot at Meetup 17 as well as breakfast and lunch. You may have heard the story but one year I didn't charge a small fee and a ton of people showed up for the free food and a ton of others cancelled! So I had way too much leftover BBQ! This is a PayPal transaction. If you would like something different please PM me.  Use this link - PayPal $20

Also, if you are a Patron, https://patreon.com/davidmccabe, at the $5 or higher level, you have a ticket to Meetup 17. You do need to RSVP though. Please use a PM here, email, Patreon PM, etc. Patrons are also invited to a RESET HQ Tour on Friday night. Come on all, sign up as Patrons!!! I purchase food based on your RSVP's and PayPal reservations! Sometimes folks can't make it after reserving, that is fine. The earlier you can reserve your spot the better!

Also, use this thread to secure transportation with each other. If you are flying in, let us know your details and maybe you can hitch a ride with someone. If you want to carpool, drop your location here and maybe someone else close to you can share a ride and some gas. You never know!

I'm currently speaking with area hotels. I'm trying to secure a group rate at the closest, Hyatt Place. There are several events happening this weekend and they seem to be fairly booked but I'll let you know for sure. Lastly, RESET stickers for all! That's why you're coming right?

If you are new to Meetup I can tell you it is a great time. We have equipment demos and a lot of folks bring their servers, media gear, etc. There is always something new and ALWAYS something to talk about. Remember Meetup 16? I dropped a bombshell on everyone and published the final episode of HSS Podcast and launched RESET Podcast. All in about 30 minutes! I was super emotional during that and it was totally unplanned! Did anyone film that? You never know what surprises I have in store for you!

Most folks try to arrive Friday prior to Meetup. We try to meet at the local Fry's and then go out to eat. Saturday is Meetup and then we converge on the Microsoft Store right after. Usually, 6 PM. Saturday night we try to go out to the local Irish Pub for some fish and chips and then disperse. Sunday morning a group of use meet at a, not so local, Waffle House for some breakfast. (love this part!)
My area is exploding in growth so you might want to bring your family to shop and explore the area. They are also invited to have lunch at Meetup. If you want to do that let me know and I can arrange that with you. I've found that most spouses don't want to stick around as the geekery tends to get very thick and unbearable for them. Ha ha ha!

I mentioned it on the show last week but now it is official. I will be in the Kansas City Microsoft Store, Saturday afternoon, December 1st. I have two presentations to do on Windows 8 and SkyDrive. One at Noon and the other at 3pm. Also going to podcast live from the store at 5pm and working on some interviews with the store manager. If you are in the area and can join me, let me know here. We will do a mini meetup early or late depending on who can show up. Maybe I can even get Microsoft to come up with a few giveaways?

I would like to gauge interest in a 2012 meetup. I envision it to be on a Saturday in mid October and located somewhere in the Indianapolis Indiana area. Please let me know in a reply if you:

RSVP no matter what the date.
      Tentative
      Can't make it this year.

This will help me decide on a location and what vendor support I'll need. Hit me with questions if you have them. Thanks!

UPDATED: The 2nd Annual Meetup will be held on October, 20th, in a location TBD. 95% sure it will be the North Indianapolis area. Page 2 of this post is where RSVPs start. Pleast RSVP if you know you will attend. Thank you!
