koolherc
Hi, I have had my N40L since last summer and up until a week ago I had no problem with it. It will now not boot or show any video, I have tried resetting the CMOS (via moving the item to position 2 and 3 and then starting the box, is this right?). Are there any other suggestions from forum colleagues before I raise a support ticket? In terms of modifications, I have only added 8GB RAM and have not modified the BIOS. Thanks in advance. jmwills
Will the server POST?
cskenney
What he said ^^^^ Also, HP logo color?
jmwills
My first inclination is to say the OS drive is kaput.
cskenney
Maybe, but wouldn't it give you a message on the screen that it can't find an OS? Still agree with you on the POST question.
schoondoggy
Are there any beep codes? Have you tried booting it up with no USB devices attached? Do you have any cards in any of the slots? Does the monitor turn on as the N40L is powering up?
ikon
I like a combination of jmwills and schoondoggy's posts: remove any extraneous drives/devices and see if the box will post. In fact, I would remove all the drives, and any other accessories - strip the box down to the bare minimum - and see if it will POST. If not, then RMA it. If it does post, then it's time to start digging in.
schoondoggy
Check your monitor as well.
ikon
yeah. IOW, if you still don't see a POST then it's time to check things like your video cable and monitor.
