Stealth
I’m looking for some advice with my Windows Server 2012 Essentials box setup at home. I wanted to run Exchange so I was advised on these forums to purchase a HP N40L and put Server 2008 R2 on it for the OS, ready to run it as my Exchange box which will be joined to my domain 2012 Essentials box. I have gone through the setup to install the connector on the 2008 R2 box and now the server shows up in the Dashboard of the 2012 box. My problem is, I don’t see the backup option for the 2008 R2 box when I select it in the Dashboard. It states “Backup Status” as “Not Supported”. Obviously I need to back this box up and it makes sense to use the 2012 box. Any ideas or advice would be apprciated.. Thanks Steve
jmwills
You would not need to install the connector to backup the N40L. You have shared folders on the WSE box so just create another folder share named backup (or whatever you like) and use the backup utility on the 2008 box and point it to that newly created folder. ImTheTypeOfGuy
It is fairly easy. Just use the wizard. PS. Just so it is clear, you can't use the connector to back up another server.
jmwills
and that seems logical to me, since this is not an Enterprise version.
