RoboCopy alternative for Win8?

Recommended Posts

Except RoboCopy doesn't work properly on Windows 8... I've tried everything I found suggested in the various forums - but it still copies over files with the exact same date/timestamps.

Which version of RC are you using? Have you tried the one from Win7?

Nothing is faster than RoboCopy.

Beginning to think so too, despite the RichCopy claims that it's faster than RoboCopy.

Yup and the one with Windows 8 - which I don't think is any different than the prior versions.

Easy enough to verify; just do a binary comparison of the 2.

I'm headed back to WHS 2011 so s/b fine using RoboCopy again. RichCopy isn't exactly running lighting fast even w/o those errors I had yesterday...Duplicating another 2 TB drive and after 14 hours, only halfway through and averahe throuhput of a dismal 15.3 megabytes / second. This is drive to drive within the N40L

Not only the best but a better alternative to RoboCopy is GS RichCopy 360. It is best of its kind If you are not a tech savvy and face problem with command line UI of RoboCopy, GS RichCopy will surely help you here as the UI is allot better and easy to understand. The additional features of this software make it unique and better from any other similar software. The performance is allot better and the results are robust and reliable as well. Must give it a try. Hope this will help you.

It's amazing that nobody has brought up WinRoboCopy (http://www.upway2late.com/#/projects/winrobocopy). It's a GUI frontend for RoboCopy. I've been using this for at least a couple of years to backup my OneDrive and a few selected personal folders from WHS2011 to a NAS. It's a step up from the native command line interface by presenting the switches as check boxes along with a description of what it does.

It also allows you to save and recall 'jobs' as well as schedule how often you want certain job(s) to be done.
