Recommended Posts

If you know of any way I can help say booting with a floppy in DOS and reading the BIOS down - let me know, the quicker the better for me. - I intend to have it figured out ASAP, I need an SSD in my poor Microserver.

Visual Studio should open that file. I'm not a programmer and don't even play one on TV

I do have a diploma in programming, but I haven't done any BIOS decoding/tweaking in a lot of years. I consider BIOS modding to be a niche speciality; not something just any programmer has the knowledge to tangle.

If you check the HP site for the N40L, they offer the tools to copy the BIOS. Then make the file available through a Dropbox link here and we can see what Christian can do.

I am duly impressed that HP does this!
