New HP ProLiant MicroServer N54L Models On the Way

I wish I was more like that because I would be able to save a lot of money that way. Maybe I am just jealous.

Maybe you need a 12-drive, er, 12-step program :)

At least It seems we have that for the eSATA Port http://homeserversho...ata/#entry50306

Without a BIOS mod?

I'm thinking HP should just increase the value of the Microserver by offering these great options we all know of in an official BIOS. Easy value increase.

@ LoneWolf -- Opps, missed the part about the Official HP BIOS providing that function instead of having to go to a BIOS-MOD.

Good point, BTW. I believe HP doesn't do that (and many other things) for "marketing/product placement" purposes to push small businesses up to bigger $$ machines when they need more capability.

All BIOS-MOD does is expose the code that's already there -- i.e. code hidden by HP.

OK, I think something is getting confused here. If I have this right, with the official HP BIOS, the eSATA port is not multiplier aware, correct?

Thanks JM. Just wanted to make sure it's clear in this thread exactly what the situation is - don't want anyone getting the wrong idea.

That's probably true, but remember HP did have port multiplier available on the Mediasmart EX49x series.

I went back to stock BIOS on my Microserver after the modded one couldn't offer me anything more without disabling my hardware RAID controller, which failed to be recognized when I would make SATA changes.

My other wish is for an update to the firmware/OS on the Remote Access Controller.
