WRT610n and WHS - review and info

Just a quick post with some info that maybe interesting. I have gone through 4 wireless routers in the last 12 months. From the dlink DIR-655 through the netgear line and so on. I picked up the WRT610N on sale at newegg because of reviews and my old personal love for the old linksys line.

Let me tell you this router rocks. Pure dual band and my laptop is a good 120 feet away in my garage, (trough 5 walls and 2 floors) and is getting the best speed and connection levels of any router i have tried. My Wireless network is both N and G.

But for some reason if you are using an extender (only tested to be true with WDTV Live - PCH is fine) you cannot connect to the shares on the WHS. I found this solution which involves turning on the network DDE and the network DDE DSDM on. See link below. After changing the 2 services on the WHS to automatic all ran well through the cat 6 and the wireless G connection to WDTV Live.

Have to run.. Bill
