Back up a Time Machine Back up

My wife's MacBook Pro currently uses Time Machine to back up to a 2.5” external USB drive. Does anyone know of a good way to back up the time machine contents of the USB drive as a secondary back up? I would love to be able to send it straight to my Drobo.

Also, does anyone have recommended back up software for Mac besides time machine. I would like to have to different software implementations of back up, just in case something goes wrong with one of them.

Man, I hate to be the one to answer this but I've backed up a lot of Mac's with my business. Try using a software to sync the folder on the 2.5" to a folder on the Drobo. You will need to test all of this and I can't guarantee data integrity so be careful! If the time machine target should fail you could mount the backed up folder on the drobo as the "backup disk."

SuperDuper! is a good hard drive cloning backup software for Mac. http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/

Reviving this old thread as I just came across it. To clone a Mac hard drive you can use Disk Utility....comes as part of OSX. Here are a couple of links discussing it. First is cloning to new SSD.

Create a bootable clone of your current system, complete.
