Hi,

I can get to http://server/connect/ and download the connector fine.. but when I start the install it says "trying to locating server" then it fails and I get the following error:

An unexpected error has occured. To reslove this issue contact the person responsible for your netwok.

Computers with connector installed allready work, vpn works, I can locate the server and shares over the network fine.. and can download the connector as stated above.. So not sure why the connector cant find the server once installation starts?

I tried on XP and Win7 machines all giving the same error..

Ideas?

Thanks

Give the Server a static IP Address, flush the DNS cache on the client, and make sure both systems are pointing to the same source for DNS records.

Done that, no go.. The server allready has static ip that is locked at the router.. When the error pops up there is nothing that I can type into..

When I download the connector and save instead of run, it saves with the name of the static ip of the server.. Obviously at that point it can see the server or else the connector wouldnt download..

Seems odd as it can find the server based on http://server/connect/, but cant find it when the connector exe is run..

run this form a command prompt

nslookup x.x.x.x where x.x.x.x is the IP Address of the server and see what hostname is returned.

Also, download the connector instead of running it from the server.

Yes, something weird happens. The server uses IPv4 to download the connector software but IPv6 to find the server. It's been a while, but I think you can disable IPv6 on the server and try again and it will use IPv4 for both. If not, let us know. Info http://homeserversho...r-wont-connect/ Quote from http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/is/whsvailbeta/thread/352134db-6316-48d2-8367-1b5e3002b3c4 I may have a solution, well it worked for me. I kept working the IPv6 angle. All of my computers have IPv6 and it is automatically enabled in Win7 by default. I got the connector software by putting in the server name, it automatically directed me to the IPv6 address. My router handles IPv6, I turned it on, enabled IPv6 DHCP, and I've had no problems since. The server shows up on the network map every time, and the connector and dashboard have connected every time for 2 days now. Check your connector software download and after the file name in brackets in the IP address it will connect with, see if it is IPv4 or IPv6. You can force a IPv4 download by putting in the IPv4 address instead of just the server name. Everything works fine now for me.
