WHS2011 wakes up at 6am

Recommended Posts

Dude

I'm running LIghts Out on my WHS2011, for some reason my Server wakes up at 6:00am every day for 10 minutes then goes back to sleep. I don't have anything set in the Lights out Calendar at that time.

Any ideas on how I can find out what service is running at this time.

Its not causing me a problem, just curious.

Don't be so curious. It's not wise to question the Great Oracle of Redmond :D

Most likely that's it. I am impressed at how Dude keeps a close eye on his Event Logs though ;)

It was either updates or sending out to Tim Horton's for coffee and doughnuts

Don't think Timmie's has any stores in OZ. Their loss :)

Shawdows are usually more than once daily, but that's not a bad guess either.

By defalult, I believe they are set to run at 6:00 A.M and 1:00 P.M. I happened to notice mine simply because I was home at 6 A.M. (at work at 1 P.M.) I just wondered if he just wasn't happening to notice the 1:00 P.M. event.

Thanks Guys, you were correct about the start-up times are due to Shadow Copies, I thought I had disabled it on my drives, I checked and its enabled on my shares, probably a good thing, and the defaults are still set so it wakes up at 6:00am & 1:00pm to do the processing for a couple of minutes.
