I am playing around with Hyper-V and can't figure out how to pass in my second drive into my VM guest. Does anybody have ideas? I ran DISKPART to create the volume and everything completed, but in the Hyper-V manager it does not show up. This is running Hyper-V Server 2012 standalone.

In DiskPart you need to set the disk as offline and then you can see it in the manager so you can assign it to a VM. That is how I do it with the older Hyper-V. Should be the same in 2012.

That's right! Let me try that, forgot you had to do that.

What does DiskPart have to do with this? Just go to the Disk Mgt applet and set it to offline.

This is a standalone Hyper-V server so all I have is a command prompt. No GUI.

I second the Roger on the 'Core Server'. On the Dynamic vs Basic, I'm not sure. I would be kind of surprised if it made all that much difference, but this is MS after all ;)
