The Verizon Wireless brick & mortar stores are clearing out their Motorola LapDock 100 accessory for $49.97.

This device was originally intended to provide a laptop style interface driven by select Motorola Android-based smartphones.

It's essentially a 10.1" 1366x768 LCD, rechargeable battery, keyboard, trackpad, two USB 2.0 ports, and an AC power adapter. Phone connectivity (or other device- see below) is via micro HDMI and micro USB male connectors.

This gives you an HDMI-based display and USB-based keyboard and trackpad (and 2-port USB hub). One cool application of it is to pair it with a Raspberry Pi. That requires some special cable adapters because of the odd (male) HDMI and USB connections. Find details here regarding a previous version of the dock, but this newer version should work the same:

I snagged the remaining three in-stock at my local VZW store to play with or sell to my tech buddies. Now I need to get a Raspberry Pi- thanks Dieharder!

Ha ha, good to hear. Lucky you. :P I can't find these in Canada. $50 is great. If you order a Raspberry Pi, check that you get the rev 2.0 they only became available within the past 2 weeks. http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/1929
