jmwills
Has anyone seen posts about converting from Hyper-V to ESXi with regards to the two about OS's? All of my other machines came over without a hitch but these two just went into a continuous loop. But hey, at least I get to see the new BSOD with the sad face My new project has me leaving Server 2008R2 as the host for my virtual environment and going to ESXi. I converted one of the Microserver N40L's to an ESXi host and used VMWare converter to move the machines but the Windows 8 and Server 2012 boxes did not want to play. Not a big deal as I am only running tests but I would still like to know why. This all depends on the HighPoint 2720 card working under ESXi 5.0 The VmWare site says it only works up to version 4.1, so the only way to find out is to disconnect the SSD for the OS, insert a USB thumb drive for the ESXi installation and see what happens. Prior to proceeding, backup!!!
jmwills
I found my own answer. ESXi has a bug fix for Windows 8 and Server 2012. http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&externalId=2007680
