Here's a script for checking 4k alignment. Copy/paste to notepad and save as '4k align test.vbs'. Checks all drives on the system. It'll tell you straight out if they are aligned.

Option Explicit
Dim strComputer: strComputer = "."
Dim objWMIService: Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
Dim colPartitions: Set colPartitions = objWMIService.ExecQuery("Select * from Win32_DiskPartition",,48)
Dim objPartition
For Each objPartition In colPartitions
Dim strDriveLetter: strDriveLetter = PartitionToDrive(objWMIService, objPartition.DeviceID)
Dim iResult: iResult = objPartition.StartingOffset / 4096
If iResult = Fix(iResult) Then
	WScript.Echo "(" & strDriveLetter & ") " & objPartition.Caption & " is 4K/512e sector aligned."
Else
	WScript.Echo "(" & strDriveLetter & ") " & objPartition.Caption & " is NOT 4K/512e sector aligned."
End If
Next
Private Function PartitionToDrive(objWMIService, DeviceID)
Dim objLogcialDisks: Set objLogcialDisks = objWMIService.ExecQuery( _
"ASSOCIATORS OF {Win32_DiskPartition.DeviceID='" & DeviceID & _
"'} WHERE AssocClass = Win32_LogicalDiskToPartition")
Dim objLogicalDisk
For Each objLogicalDisk In objLogcialDisks
	PartitionToDrive = objLogicalDisk.DeviceID
	Exit Function
Next
PartitionToDrive = ""
End Function

In addition to "Lan Speed Test", ATTO, Crystal Disk Info, & Crystal Disk Mark, go to StableBit and download a d 30day trial copy of StableBit Scanner for WHS-2011 and set it to scan your drives. I have the Scanner on my 2011 and my V1 and I use all of the other tools mentioned earlier.

Thought of it, but both drives having the same issue at the exact same moment is just too weird. :blink:

We thought that was a given.....

Well, everyone should use it

Ok I now its late but an update. All the drives are aligned 4k except the old little maxter I brought out for fun. I will try to get ahold of Seagate tomorrow to see about warranting the drives. Tomorrow my 2720sgl will be in and I will install the new red drives in a raid five configuration. BTW the new red drives I tested with atto where getting around 140 MBps on read and write. No to shabby.
