Anyone have a recommendation for a SAS/SAT controller

I want to build a NAS based on Linux like OpenMediaVault or OpenFiler, and want to use a controller card to expand the number of HDD's I can attach, I am not going to use RAID so that is not important. I originally bought a SuperMicro card, eventhough it works great in Windows, it does not work in Linux. I would prefer to have a card that has 8 ports.

Any Ideas???

You should be able to use the 2720 even if you do not use RAID. It has linux drivers and can be used as a straight drive controller to control 8 drives. Who knows, in the future you can always use the RAID if you need it.

I could be wrong but I am not sure you have to select any option for single disk access. It should act as a stand alone controller.
