yodafett 97 Posted April 15, 2012 would be perfect for homeservers backing up to the cloud
ImTheTypeOfGuy 52 Posted April 15, 2012 Just replicate your home server to a Server 8 and wala!
jmwills 284 Posted April 15, 2012 Exactly what I was thinking or map the drives over from WHS to 8.
yodafett 97 Posted April 15, 2012 Actually better idea that I will be working on today, server 8 has the iscsi trarget role. So can then have it homst the drives for a thin whs2011 build. Whs thinks it owns the drive but in reality owned by server 8 with is drive pooling, data dedup, and now online storage
jmwills 284 Posted April 15, 2012 Probably better since the iSCSI will be seen as local rather than networked drives.
yodafett 97 Posted April 15, 2012 Probably better since the iSCSI will be seen as local rather than networked drives. that what i'm thinking, as far as WHS or even your local PC it would be just a local drive and not a network volume. Plus iscsi has less overhead performance wise so would get better performance. Going from there if the WHS was a hyperv from server 8 could get even better performance but I do like the idea of using a nettop (mac mini size) as the host running on a ssd with server8 hosting the iscsi on the back end yet another config to be trying on the new microserver
