New Build Question

Hey Folks

I'm a newbie when it comes to homeserver building and need some help to replace my extinct HPmediaserver EX475. All of 3 of my add on HDD's are relatively new(1 year old to be exact) and I would just like some advice on the components based on these guidelines.

1) Low power consumption

2) Low noise producer

3) Case that could house 6 HDD's

4) Best bang for buck

5) No need to get HDDs' because I'll just reformat the ones that I currently have.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to reading your suggestions

Welcome to the forums

My recommendation would be:

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128495

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115077 or the (2500 if you want to convert movies)

Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

Power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171036

Case is a bit tougher as it is more personal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352008

I you are only using 3 drives for now you should be fine but if you want a scalable larger volume consider a raid card.

Thank you for the component suggestions. The case suggestion was taken into account as a possible alternate with this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112300

This is a great case. I have this case and have used it for a couple of builds. It is just a bit more expensive.

Check the deals section within the Forum as some really nice cases have become available.
