Just curious how Dave's HD Homerun is doing. Looking forward to your review because I'll be rebuilding my HTPC soon and am seriously considering going to the HD Homerun.

The HDHomeRun is awesome. It outperforms every tuner I've come into contact with. It was a breeze to install. We talk a little about it in podcast 65. I would highly recommend it.

@The Guy, yes it does handle QAM from your cable provider as well. Overall, by far the best tuner out there! You can even have 1 of the tuners doing QAM and the other doing ATSC.

I've used the HDHR with a DB8 antenna plugged into a 4 way splitter/amplifier. I've NEVER had a problem with it and highly recommend it.

Remember that a full stream of HD can take up ~25 Mb/s, so if you're on a 10/100 network, there is a chance you can crowd your bandwidth (especially if you have two streams running at once). If you can put a gigabit switch between your HDHR and anything else that is going to use the stream, you won't have any problems.

For $104 I would jump on that quick. RadioShack had an offer real close to that price recently but they sold FAST! Even $125 is a good deal. I have 1 HDHR right now pulling in OTA and it works awesome. I can use it on a WMC laptop and SageTV running on my WHS simultaneously.

Dave, what type of signal amplifier are using?

I received my HDhomerun, and even with a simple rabbitear antenna in the attic, I'm able to get about 10 channels. However, I'm planning on getting either DB2 or DB4 to improve the reception. You mentioned a signal booster some time ago... which one do you use?

thanks in advance,
.Sam.
