Modified BIOS for Microserver N40L enables hidden features

Use this link to create the bootable thumb drive http://cvscorp.homes...ey%20Media).exe but replace and rename the BIOS bin file with the one from BIOS-MODS.

 

You should only have to reboot the server with the thumb drive and it will do all the work.

 

Look under the tab for Southbrige stuff there is a lot of stuff there. That's where I found stuff for the ESATA port to recognise my DROBO.

I find the cvscorp site goes up and down. I copied all their files to my PC for future use.

 

Smart man. Better to have them available locally anyway IMHO.

Hi,

 

Can I ask the forum for some guidance please?

 

I have carried out the bios mod to my N40L as I am about to install an SSD for the OS. With ports 4 and 5 now running at 3 Gbps, am I going to cause any performance issues if I install a bluray drive (rated at 1.5Gbps) onto port 5?
