Evening. I have a very stable installation of WHS2011 running on a nicely powered dedicated computer, really overpowered for the need. I'd like to run the commercial program Sugarsync on the server to move files to cloud storage for offsite needs. Any more experienced hand have advice on how Sugarsync will perform on my server box? Or even Windows Live Mesh? Thanks to all you pros. Best... miker

I haven't used Sugarsync on my WHS 2011 box, but I was thinking about it, which is how I found this question. I have, however, been using Live Mesh for quite a while, with great success. The file syncing aspect is fine and good, but the best part is the Remote Desktop access, which makes it much easier to get a remote desktop than going through the hassle of opening certain ports on the router and such. I'd recommend Live Mesh for that alone.

I have run Allwaysync, Crashplan, and Acronis all of which go to the cloud. Most everything runs on WHS 2011 the real question is what service are you backing up to. That might dictate what software to run. Can you elaborate on your plans.

I don't have Sugarsync on whs2011 but I run it on several W7 machines and it works well.

I too recommend Windows Live Mesh. I use it more than any other program; well, other than the OS and OUtlook.

I've read a lot of posts about installing Virtualbox on top of WHS2011 but has anyone come across an addon that integrates Virtualbox into WHS like how Hyper-V is into Server2008 R2?

I'm running Server2008 R2 at home at the moment and was thinking of moving over to WHS2011 for the DLNA and Backup features. My only big hitch is I have a few VM's running in Hyper-V (Minecraft server, OpenVPN, Torrent server, Sparkleshare) and really cant go back to living without them. The best feature IMHO of Hyper-V is the intergration of VM launch and shutdown with the Host system which is sadly lacking in my knowledge of Virtualbox. I was thinking with the wide variety of Addons for WHS v1 and 2011 someone must have though of a Virtualbox Addon that brought some of that functionality to Virtualbox and WHS but I have yet to find one that does.
