Hi All,
I have built a WHS 2011 server. All was well except my Win 10 PC would not back up to it. Installing the KB281721 hotfix was done on the server and part of the process was to reinstall the connector on the PC. I uninstalled from control panel. I then had a ton of problems connecting to WHS 2011 connect webpage. This turned out to be being blocked by the server windows firewall, which started working ok when I disabled the private firewall.
Now the connector web page comes up and initiates the install. Connect a computer wizard starts up and asks me for the server name or IP.
Neither work. Whether I enter the server name or the IP it says the server could not be located.
If I open the remote access web page from any device inside or outside LAN, I can connect to the server and carry out all you would expect. I can connect via RDP, I can ping the LAN IP, I can ping the FQDN and WAN IP.
The server is showing in Network and all shares are browse-able.
I installed the find my server wizard and that failed to find it even using the command line switch with the <servername>
So how do I get the server connector up and running.
I have added theses ports to the router
65510
3389 disabled at the moment until I can secure it better
4125
443
80
I found 3 copies of windows home server in the listed devices and have removed all of them.
I am at a loss as to what to do next. Hoping some experienced WHS 2011 server people know what to do next.......

The SDM R4 is SOLD OUT!
The SDM R4 is a bracket that facilitates mounting two additional 2.5″ drives in a HP MicroServer Gen8. There are also mounting holes for fans across the bottom to help cool RAID/SATA cards. The kit includes all the fasteners needed to install.
With optional Stackers you can run four 2.5″ drives on the SDM R4. The SDM R4 will support four 9.5MM 2.5″ drives. If you want to run four drives on the SDM R4, you need to order SSB stacking brackets listed below. One set of SSB per drive pair, four drives will require two SSB kits. Because of the size of the SDM R4, if you are going to boot your server using the internal USB port, you will need to use a USB stick that is shorter than 1″. For more information on mounting instructions look here: http://homeservershow.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5960-hp-ms-g8-25-drive-bracket-revision-history-new-rev-35-and-rev-4-info/?p=137922

Hi, hoping for a bit of guidance on what todo with my N40L box. I have it sat in the living room connected to the TV. Its running Windows 10 with Kodi, sabnzb, torrents, and a bunch of discs with all my files and media. I would like to have a solid setup that can be used to access my data,, share game ISOs, download NZBs, do backups, etc.
I'm going with WHS 2011, is this the best option considering the other HS OS's available such XPEnology, FreeNas, etc?
Specs:
N40L:
8GB ATI GPU BIOS Hack 128GB SSD (OS sitting in DVD Bay) 1.5TB HD 200gb HD 200 gb HD2 I have a 750GB SSD - not sure what to use this for?
Thanks for your help!

Hi folks,
I have had my install of WHS2011 for some time and with a static IP have been able to use remote access by switching on that service albeit not using microsoft's domain name registration.
The system has worked for about 5 years but is now grumbling about certificates when I login either remote or using one of my PCs on the local home network using mstsc. The error message is attached. Clearly if I click yes and ignore the error I can continue as I can when accessing the server using the static IP.
I have looked at various posts about certificates and buying certificates for domain names etc. most of which the responses go over my head.
Any assistance that could help me address this would be gratefully received.
Boogie.
