nlitend1 3
Does anyone know of a way to restore a server backup to a smaller drive than it was originally created on? . I had a 1.5TB drive in my server and just tried to replace it with a 1Tb drive and run server restore. The restore fails saying that the new drive is less than the old drive. I'm assuming that's because it's an image of the original drive. I only have 100GB in the whole system though and wonder if anyone knows a way to bypass this error. Thanks, nlitend1
Michael Brown 3
If you are able to get a server restore to work, period, I'd be interested in hearing about it. I've tried a couple of times with no success. Client restores have been a breeze, however.
ikon 439
Have you tried using Disk Mangler to shrink the volume before backing it up? Maybe you could shrink it enough to fit on the smaller drive?
texasPI 6
I actually ran into this when I tried virtualizing WHS in 2008R2. I used the trial version of easeus todo server. Worked for me. Edited October 2, 2011 by texasPI
