Hello, i was curious if anyone could recommend a WHS 11 compatable sata 3 controller that uses a PCI interface? I haven't had any luck finding any that outright claim compatability.

Thanks

You probably wont. Sata 3 is far too fast for PCI. PCI does not have the bandwidth to handle Sata 3 performance. If all you have is PCI, just get any sata 1 or 2 card as most drives are backwards compatible.

Do you need PCI or PCI-Express card? It makes a big difference...

as pcdoc said, it would make little sense to sell a PCI based SATA III card. PCIe has up to 16 data lanes, each running at 4 Gbit/sec, for a max of 64 Gbit/sec. It can easily handle SATA III's 6 Gbit/sec. PCI runs at 1.3 Gbit/sec (@33 MHZ); up to 2.6 Gbit/sec if using a full 32bit adapter card. That's a lot less than what SATA III can do.
