HP MediaSmart Server working lights for WHS2011

For those of you who have a EX48x/49x MediaSmart Server, forum member lpn over at WeGotServed http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.php/topic/18458-hp-ex48x-lights-management-driver-for-whs-2011/ is currently building and testing a driver for the MediaSmart Server lights to work with WHS2011.

 

ISSUE: WHS2011 is a 64 bit OS and the OS will not include a driver for the case lights on the MediaSmart servers because that driver was built by Hewlett Packard, when you install WHS2011 on your MediaSmart Server, the drive lights will not work.

 

You can not install the original driver for the lights from WHS version 1 because that driver is 32 bit and will not work.

 

Forum member "lpn" at We Got Served is digging into the v1 driver code to build a 64 bit version. With the help of members, this driver is becoming a reality. I for one was hoping that someone over at MediaSmartServer.net would have come out with a driver since the site is mostly about those servers.

 

So if you installed WHS2011 on your EX48x/49x MediaSmart Server, head over there to help test and try the driver.

 

It's quite interesting to read about how the lights work. I'm testing it myself.
