whs will not boot

hi all

i have a question my home server will not boot.

4 hard drives i removed the 2 drive let it move everyething to other three drives

then install a new bigger drive now will not boot

can I reinstall whs will i loose all my data

What version of WHS are you using?

Boot failure does not necessaily mean HD failure.

It could be RAM or a million other things.

Give us some more info and we might be able to help.

By using the diagnostic features of your main board, you should be able to run some sort of test on the system. If this is V1, you need to replace the drive you took out, reboot and offload the data to removable storage. There is no direct upgrade path from V1 to V2.

I am running first version 2003 can I take the hard drives out get the files off the them i have a usb connction

thinking about starting over .

I dont think this will work due to the way drive extender carves up the data.

Best to try and get the server booted then you can copy your data to your usb hard drive.

Yes you can

Best to try and get the server booted then you can copy your data to your usb hard drive.

 

 

Renny all drive extender does (in a nutshell) is concantonate the drives into a single volume. Each file exists as it would on any other drive. If folder dupe is on it just puts a second copy on another drive.
