Reserved IP Addresses

I was listening to BYOB and they mentioned reserving IP addresses. When you go into your router and reserve an IP address for a particular computer, do you also go to the computer and assign a static IP address that matches the reservation?

The reservation is controlled by the MAC address of the client so make sure you get that correct.

The PC should stay Automatic but the router knows the mac address for the device and knows to assign the reserved IP address.

So essentially you don't need to set a static ip address on the computer if you reserve the one it was assigned via DHCP? Since the reservation is MAC controlled. OK I get it. Thanks guys.
