Paul, I had the same thought and went over to sign up. Got to the page, clicked on sign up, and it took me back to the connect page. So, not sure I actually got in or not. Guess we will see.

How did it work for you?

AVG File Server Edition 2012 is supported on WHS2011. I found it for <$20. And I have it running only scheduled scans, not real-time.

I had to press AVG to confirm support. But I have it "in writing". *Laugh*

Given the opportunity to use either Symantec Endpoint Protection v11 or Microsoft Forefront Client Security...which would you choose and why?

I currently have SEPv11 on my WHSv1 MSS but I'm considering removing it and installing the MS FCS instead. SEP has been bogging it down lately.

LOL, you answered your own question. Symantec (Norton) stuff has been bogging down systems for years now. I know some people say some of the products are OK but I can't see the point of hunting and pecking to find those ones when there are plenty of other very good products out there. I would go with FCS.

Signed-up for the beta (again?) today, it seemed to work, saying it'll notify me when the beta is started.

You are correct as I got the same response. We had brought this up a few podcasts ago and I have been running it for over a month now and it seems to be doing a great job although I paid $39 for it so you got a good deal. I have mine running real time and no impact on performance that I can see. I think this is a great solution, stable program and reasonably priced.

The "Microsoft Security Essentials Beta program" has started, if anybody is interested in trying this, just follow the instructions here:

I've got my hands full for the next few weeks with this virtualization/backup project, and may not be able to get to testing this. Meanwhile, I continue to have the older Forefront continuing to work fine for my needs (helping to protect 4TB PC backups and 1TB of shares on WHSv1, and soon WHS2011).
