ImTheTypeOfGuy
In 30 minutes of listening so far, way to closed minded. Not sure I will listen to the rest of this one. From my post on the blog... Unfortunately I am going to have to agree with CBick and Harry Glazer. I have only listened to the first 30 minutes and I don't know if I can finish it out. I have never heard so much closed minded negative garbage in my life. Thanks Dave for trying to keep it a little even and thanks to John for not saying anything. I guess he may have been going by the old addage if you don't have anything good to say, then don't say it at all, eh? If you had tested the products and then had negative comments because it was bad, then no problem but lets get the products out in beta at a minimum before condemning it. JediTim
Just fnished listening to 124 and thought it was good. While it was negative in regards to the "potential" DE replacements I think the negativity is right. If MS couldn't figure it out why should I trust someone else whom is much smaller with my data. IWhile it may work out I think there is too much risk in losing what I have stored. After listening to the podcase I am leaning on a RAID solution as outlined by pcdoc (RocketRaid 2680) for my video files. I appreciate the input we get from everyone on the podcast...it has definitely helped me. Tim
ImTheTypeOfGuy
Who says MS couldn't figure it out. I feel like they just gave up because the home server wasn't their market. Why spend more than 2 hours trying to figure out the problem when the target is small busines. Also, small organizations have proven throughout history that they are more than capable to do what larger organization can't do.
jmwills
I agree that is was not worth the ROI for MS to deal with this. SMB's and larger organizations are going to use some sort of RAID solution so for MS to continue to put the R&D dollars into this did not make sense especially if they know it might break some business applications. WHS will live but this is such a small market for MS but a large market for a smaller company.
diehard
I agree, MS only made a limited effort to try and port over DE to WHS2011. They should have left the WHS team alone to do there own thing and not merge them. That being said then they should have abandoned WHS2011 because to me, it is no longer a HOME product unless you only have 1 or 2 drives in your server. I am happy to see that they had the sence to develop Aurora, Windows Small Business Server Essentials 2011.
jmwills
Agreed, no way they are going to abandon the SMB Market, and face it, MS does not have the best track record with "Home Products".

They should have merged it with MC and then they could have made all of us happy by putting MC on WHS. drivebender is in the forums , maybe we can get some feedback from him, or invite him to the podcast. Yes, inviting them on a podcast for a few minutes is an excellent idea.
Guest no-control
I'd say wait until he has something for release then invite him on.
