You can also use the WHS as the save location for the transfer information. I've successfully done that before.

 

 

Good thought, never tried that before. Seems as if it might be a bit slow though?

As long as you are on gigabit (which everyone should be without excuse (except laptops)) then it is probably going to be faster than writing back to the same spindle you are copying from.

Pretty much. You'll need external usb storage of some sort. When you run the Easy Transfer utility on the old OS, it will copy everything into a single file for you. Then, when you run the utility under the new OS, you point it to that file you had previously created and everything comes back over.

You can Easy Transfer directly across you network or store the ET data on a network share. I've done all 3 ways; the direct network transfer was actually pretty sweet.
