USB3.0-to-Gigabit Ethernet adapters and host resource utilization

In usage, do these adapters use a ton of CPU resources when you're hammering them with data? I know I saw some narrative about it before but I can't find it anymore.

This server has only one embedded gigabit port and is out of PCIe slots. However, it does have an abundance of USB3.0 Type-A ports. I'll probably need one or two such adapters to add dedicated NICs for a couple of VMs.

Never mind. I installed one anyway and it seems to work fine.

I was curious about the same thing, specifically as there are 2.5GbE, 5GbE and 10GbE external NIC's available.
