Tourniquet 0
Heya, I wanted to buy a new mini pc to run Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 on. The thing is, there isn't enough space to put a 3,5'' harddrive in it. So my idea was to connect an external drive, mount it as D:\ and let the server backup everything on that. Now my question is: Is that possible or will the Dashboard or whatever say "sry not possible on external drives"?

It works like a charm and out-of-the box. I've used that backup method for years with my old servers. Br, Bjorn
Tourniquet 0
Oh thats great to hear. So you also mounted the external drive as drive D:\? Or did you do something else?
TheGuru 12
No drive letter... Just format as NTFS as standard. Backup does not need a drive letter. It will create everything itself.
