Which NVIDIA graphics card fro the Gen 8

Recommended Posts

I need to install a NVIDIA base graphics card into the microserver to improve the performance or the AI system for blueiris.

Is there anything recommended?

The Nvidia 1030 GT is popular in the MS Gen8 as it is a single slot low profile card. There are several single slot low profile Nvidia Quadro cards available as well. You may need to check with BlueIris user groups to see what delivers the bang for the buck.

I see the p400 being recommended a lot, roughly how do they compare?

I know the p400 is display port and the 1030 gt is not, but for internal processing use that isn't a issue is it?

Thinking plex in my case.

For internal processing, you don't need to attach an external monitor to it.

I have a Quadro P400 on my Plex server which is being used for hardware transcoding. The monitor is connected to the motherboard's VGA port (i5 4570 cpu embedded GPU) and not on the P400.

That said, the P400 doesn't quite do a good job for my use case (Plex), so I'm changing this out for the more popular cheap option, GTX 1050 Ti. The best video card for Plex remains to be the Quadro P2000....  but it's relatively expensive though.

Sorry for the OT.

Can I ask what issues you had with the k400 when using it with plex?

Thanks

It's a P400, not K400.

It gives lackluster performance on hardware transcodes.

Opps, by bad, thinking of something else at the time.

Thanks for the info about its performance in plex, very helpful.

Thanks for all of the replys, I think i will give the 1030 a shot as its going to probably be the cheapest option, as noise is not a question, will a active cooled version fit (i.e has a fan).
