RAID1+0 problem / fan noise / eternal sync ?

Recommended Posts

After several days of testing ... I realized that my Gen 8 has stayed with the fan at 50% because of RAID1.

I put 4 disks in the bays, and ordered RAID 1 + 0 to stay on all day, and the HD usage light doesn't go out, and the fan gets 50%

I undid it, and left 2xRAID0, the FAN was 50% and the synchronization does not end, the light keeps on always ....

I undid it, and left it with 2xRAID1 and the Fan was 6%
I undid it, and left it with 4xRAID0 and the Fan was 6%

I'm testing with 4x500GB disks with the B120i controller

Does anyone know about this?

That fan noise is the single most annoying thing about the Gen8. I would like to know more about this too!

When I leave the disks without mounting an array, the FAN is 6% ....

But if I mount RIAD0, RAID1, or RAID1 + 0 the Fan goes to 30 ~ 50%

I see that the disk usage indicator led doesn’t turn off, there’s direct access ...

Very strange....

----------

EDIT: I found that disabling the AHCI module, makes the disk usage led, stay on and on. When AHCI is activated, the indicator LED returns to normal.

Command used to disable:

esxcli system module set --enabled = false --module = vmw_ahci

However, when active, ESXi 6.5 no longer identifies the Array disks ...

I realized that the problem with the disk usage indicator led occurs whenever I mount RAID1 or RAID1 + 0.

After he loads the hpvsa module on the ESXi, the disk usage indicator light comes on and does not go out.

When I leave in RAID0 1 in 1 or 2 in 2, the led works correctly

Does anyone have any solution for this?
