Juggy 2
Does anyone know where I can find a non HPE ram compatibility list for this MS? HPE is just too expensive. Also, does anyone have experience using a PCIe 3.0 x4 card with an NVMe drive on it to run the OS? This card with a Samsung PM981 SSD https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FKW3Y73/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=
randman 6
About 1.5 years ago, I purchased this Lycom DT-120 card: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYCQP38/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I put a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe on it. I'm using it in my HPE ML30 Gen9, which runs ESXi v6.5 U3. Note: I boot ESXi off a USB stick and use the NVMe as a datastore, but IIRC, it's possible to boot off the NVMe with the card as well. I learned about this card from https://tinkertry.com/how-to-install-a-2nd-samsung-950-pro-m2-nvme-on-superserver . Edited May 5, 2020 by randman

I will go that route if the card I have ordered doesn't do the job as expected.

Jason 84
Are there any Dual M.2 NVMe cards that actually works? I tried this Supermicro card, but it simply wasn't even detected in the Xeon G10+. https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/accessories/addon/AOC-SLG3-2M2.php Ended up using a Silverstone ECM22 that supports 1 NVMe and 1 M.2 SSD. Am able to boot off the NVMe drive (using a small 500 GB one). Have not tried to add an M.2 SSD on there for storage. Will try that next.
Jason 84
Just confirmed adding both an NVMe and M.2 SATA SSD to that Silverstone PCI3 card in the HPE Gen10+ doesn’t work. Only sees the NVMe drive but can still boot from it.Am suspecting bifurcation function to be improved in a future BIOS. Seems the Gen10 already has BIOS options not available on Gen10+ (auto, bifurcate and dual bifurcate).

Seems the Gen10 already has BIOS options not available on Gen10+ (auto, bifurcate and dual bifurcate). As far as I know there is no SATA port available in the MS Gen10+ to connect to the Silverstone ECM22, so yes, the M.2 SATA slot is not useable.
Juggy 2
If anyone is interested I am using 2x16GB G-Skill Ripjaw V 3200 CL16 modules in my Gen10+ All I had to do was remove the header spreaders On 6/10/2020 at 7:29 AM, schoondoggy said: As far as I know there is no SATA port available in the MS Gen10+ to connect to the Silverstone ECM22, so yes, the M.2 SATA slot is not useable. 100% correct, the SATA SSD in the M.2 slot will need to be connected via SATA cable to a SATA port on the motherboard. Jason 84
The ECM22 documentation indicates the 2nd device can either be an M.2 SATA SSD or a drive connection via SATA (both options are adjacent to one another).
schoondoggy 901
On the ECM22 the bottom M.2 slot is M key. You can use a M.2 NVMe or AHCI drive in it. The top slot is B key. You can use a M.2 SATA drive in it, but you need to provide a SATA connection from the motherboard as there is no SATA controller on this card.
