Networking Cable for my House

welcome, JenniferT. We would need more details to hazard a guess. What does your project look like, how far out in the future are you thinking to cover... The term "best" probably comes out to which classification of cable (CAT5E, CAT6, etc...) and in some cases fiber might even be recommended :). Special issues like burying or exterior runs can make a mix of cable types appropriate.

for me it is what cable can I get a deal on that is sufficiently rated.

do tell..

I agree with nrf, However what I will state is that the standards I use for my own projects, in any segment (commercial, industrial or residential) start with the following and are then expanded upon depending on the exact situation.

Internal cabling to endpoints, WAP's etc - Category 6A

Links Between distribution points (switches) - OS2 Fibre

running cable is a messy, time consuming project - not something that you will look forward to upgrading

so buy the best and fastest cable you can get , knowing that after you put it in, it could very well outlive you.

leave some slack in the runs, so they can be reterminated at some point in the future

I've had good experience with the riser rated cat6 cable from mono price
