While SD is the 'goto man' for building out a Microserver ...
… in your place I would be (re)building my own server.

Reasons:
- when an HP MS cost £100-125 in the UK it was a bargain: a new 3421 now costs £525
-  you have many re-usable components for a reparenting job
- why fiddle about extending a machine which does not have enough disk bays: why not go for 8 bays from the start?
- buying a new motherboard will give you direct support for an M.2 SSD (even NVME), instead of losing a disk bay for a fast OS partition
- a new motherboard also opens up the future for Thunderbolt and 10Gb networking (if you are careful!) and the possibility of leveraging SMB multichannel
- you have the option of a performance-enhancing, 8-disk Storage Space … plus the security of ReFS

MS Gen10 x3421 8GB is $369 in the US.
I do consider myself to be a bit more than just a Microserver resource. 🙂

Yes its over priced here in the UK, eBuyer at £520 was the best I found.

Even with links to Trade Suppliers its costing the same (£433+VAT).

Edit:

Stand corrected found it for £457.75 but not sure if its UK Spec

Whats the difference between:

P04923-S01

and

P04923-421

Edit 2:

P04923-xxx

Country Code Key

xxx = S01, 001 Americas

xxx = 291 Japan

xxx = 375 AP

xxx = 421 EMEA
