Hi,

Today I tried to backup my new DELL Vostro 5370 to my WHS2011 server. I got some error messages in the event logs which seem to be related to the following hotfix:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/51fb3d23-a593-427a-850e-576422f44df0/kb2781272-anywhere-on-this-planet-where-i-can-get-this-hotfix

Unfortunately the download link is not available anymore and Microsoft does not provide the the file. It seems the file was still available until end of 2018:

https://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/WHS 2011/latest/KB2781272/6.1.8800.16402/free/459525_intl_x64_zip.exe

Here is the official anouncement from Microsoft:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4343220/this-hotfix-is-no-longer-available

I am happy with my WHS2011 and would like to use it also for my DELL notebook.

Can anyone provide me this file via link or mail? Would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

Just want to inform that I got a link and could successfully patch my server.

Please note that after the installation of the hotfix you have to perform a Windows update on the server. It will install an additional patch (KB2934953). Without this update you will get errors when trying to backup your clients and you are not able to see your old backups anymore.

You can find a download link here:

https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/121024-search-hotfix-whs-2011-a.html

Please verify the checksum after your download. The checksum of the official package is:

SHA256: a65dbfe88df6c7f767673287b91afa6693bb5f2ba3645a619bbb070ba8e4deb4
Filename: 459525_intl_x64_zip.exe

Microsoft is being very stupid removing all of the old hotfixes from their websites. They are also wiping out old blogs and thus invalidating many cross-linked articles to those blogs and hotfixes. It is insane.

I found a source for KB2781272 on the wayback machine (WWW archive) here: https://web.archive.org/web/20130910201028/http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/WHS%202011/latest/KB2781272/6.1.8800.16402/free/459525_intl_x64_zip.exe

I hope this is helpful to others stuck in the same bind.
