ross87
Hi, I've just purchased a HP Microserver Gen 8, with a Intel Xeon E3 1265L v2 2.5GHz and 16GB ram. I have installed a 120gb SSD in the optical bay and installed Windows Server 2016 to this. I have just added 3 * 4tb WD drives and I can see them in iLO and the built in HP software, but I am unable to see them in Windows Server 2016. I have checked Disk Manager and there is no sign of the drives. Any ideas on what is causing this and how to rectify it? Thanks in advance. schoondoggy
If you are going to use the B120i, you need to configure the drives in the B120i so Windows can see the drives. If you want Windows to see them as individual drives you can set them up as individual RAID0 drives.
ross87
You're a star, thank you schoondoggy. Am I correct in thinking I can only boot from the SSD in the optical drive, if I use B120i?
schoondoggy
That is true. Some have used a bootloader on a micro SD card to boot to the OS on a SSD on the ODD port while running AHCI.
ross87
Thanks for all your help. I'll have to do some reading on the forums as that sounds helpful. Have a great day and thanks again.
