Gen8 Meltdown & Spectre Fix BIOS is out

I might be wrong, but I assume the primary / secondary Rom is so if something adversely effects your system with a Rom update you can revert to the previous (backup) Rom.

With this in mind I would think you would want them to be different.

Maybe it's designed so you can't have the same Rom as both?

To update the secondary ROM just swap the ROMs and then update again.

I logged into iLO, clicked the button to swap the ROM, rebooted and went through the refresh procedure via USB. It appears to flash okay but then when looking in iLO on the firmware tab its still reporting the old version.

Can someone confirm that they have had success in flashing both ROMs?

@bytesandbolts   I appreciate the alert of the Bios update - I find the HPE messages way too convoluted.

However, this Bios is insufficiently optimized and still requires OS system measures. To reduce the penalty I've disabled the Meltdown protection boosting performance of my Xeon E3-1220L V2 from Slower to Good.

To update both BIOSes you just need to run the update 2 times))) do not do the swap.

Did you update via USB or iLo web interface?
