MalastiC
Hi. I have G8 with 2 Raid 1 (2x8 Tbs & 2x4 Tbs) The Raid 2x4 no problem with loss buy i need save Raid 1 8 Tbs. I buy a P222. Can I put 2 Hds from older Array to new with loss archives? Can I make a migration from RAID 1 to RAID 5 with loss archives with P222? Thank you. schoondoggy
Yes you can migrate arrays form the B120i to the P222, but you should have a good backup before you do anything. You should be able to change the RAID type, but you need at least three drives to make a RAID5 array. Most times I played with RAID migration I was going RAID10 to RAID5 with four drives. Be sure all of your devices and controllers have the latest firmware. I think the P222 needs to have cache to support RAID5 and to do RAID migration. On page 24 there is a section on migration: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03326739 If you are managing your RAID controllers with SSA here is the guide: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03909334

Hi, Have you got any information regarding the compatibility issues with 8Tb HDD and P222? I have also got 8Tb drives and I'd like to buy a P222 Smart Array, But have got some bad news on that... The P222 picked up the RAID sets from the B120i with out issue? I will be curious to see how the RAID 1 to RAID 5 conversion goes. Good luck! I put the P222 to place the cable and it recognized me the two raids without problems. The B120i complains because it can not find the hard drives. I do not want to turn it off or do anything until I have the migration done. As the B120i does not find the hard disks the server has the warning light in red.Tomorrow I get the 8Tb hard drive. Would you mind placing HDD model info here just to let people know? I have bought 8Tb Seagate ST8000NM0055 drives and it is ok when speaking about B120i but I am only planning an upgrade...
