Hi,

I am running ESXi 6.5 on Gen8 in a test environment.

Is there a really simple way i can shutdown and start the whole server automated without go to the physical box?

I know ESXi has the VM start/shut config but i was wondering if there was an easier way without accessing the box/ilo/vsphere web client?

The ideal way would be to run a command from my linux laptop that i use.

Enable SSH on your ESXi,  and use plink (available as putty-tools for Debian-based distros) to send a /sbin/shutdown to it.
